Laurence Martins / Painter
A self-taught artist to discover....
Laurence Martins was born on 17 November 1964 in Melun. She has always been attracted to art, although she was not able to take courses in this field. It is her husband, himself a painter, who will give her the taste and the desire to paint. She will also be supported in this approach by their three daughters who will never stop encouraging her.
At first, it was a hobby that allowed her to evacuate the daily stress. Painting (oil and acrylic) will become, following the sometimes very painful events of life, an outlet. When the bad times are over, she always keeps the need to isolate herself and the immense pleasure she finds in picking up the brush to let her intuition flow.
"Paint, paint - Always paint - Still paint - as best as possible, the empty and the full - the light and the dense - the living and the breathing" said Zao Wou-Ki
This is what Laurence Martins tries to do. She starts from an image, from what she sees in nature, or from feminine curves, then with a starting nuance, she combines the colours as she is inspired, she gives movement, she creates lines, shapes, reflections and arranges them in space.
Once her work is finished, she is delighted to see the contemplative gazes that come to rest on her paintings.
