Ponds circuit
Discovering the ponds that surround the town of Souppes-sur-Loing.
The town takes its name from this particular geography, Souppes meaning in particular "soggy place" as evidenced by the marshes around the city.
The route will first take you to the edges of the small Morion stream that you will follow before crossing a small red bridge.
Passage through the large Étang des Varennes
You will then take a path located between the railway line and small ponds before turning left towards the large pond of Varennes. An ideal place to stroll and very popular with fishermen who find white fish (roach, bream, bleak) and predatory fish (perch, pike perch, pike).
You will bypass the pond on the left bank, which will bring you in front of the gates of the Royal Abbey of Notre Dame de Cercanceaux, a former place of religious worship, founded in 1181 by monks of the order of Cîteaux. At the end of the pond you will turn left to go up the bank of the pond towards Souppes. You cross the hamlet of Varennes before heading towards the Base de Loisirs lake, where the hike began.
