The village is located northwest of the territory of the Community of Communes Gâtinais Val-de-Loing. But also, near the historic center of Gâtinais, the town has preserved many witnesses hidden between its town and its 4 hamlets: Busseau, Jarville, Maison Rouge and Morville.

First of all, the Neolithic polishers located at the edge of the village and the commune of Faÿ-lès-Nemours, prove an occupation of the place since prehistoric times. These are the Aufferville / Maison Rouge polishers.

On the other hand, many crosses marking the location of the old village gates have been erected on the boundaries of the municipalities of Bougligny and Maisoncelles-en-Gâtinais. But also, in the village and in the hamlets of Maison Rouge and Morville. In the church square, the Saint Peter's cross, 3.5m high, dates from the 12th century.

In addition, a Relay station was installed at the Maison Rouge on the main road from Paris to Lyon. In fact, milestones are still visible along the RD403, further proof that the town occupied a place on the Gâtinais communication network throughout history.

The Saint Martin church, listed as a Historic Monument since 1926, was built in the 12th century, in typical Gâtinaise architecture with a square bell tower to the right of the choir. Inside, the nave is a little wider than the choir and the apse houses an 18th century altarpiece. It seems that the church is the symbol of the evolution of the town since the south aisle was added when Jarville was attached to Auferville in the 15th century.
